"LAKEVIEW — A sushi bar set to replace Five Guys on Broadway won't need servers to deliver its dishes — it has conveyer belts.
Sushi Plus Rotary Sushi Bar could open at 3219 N. Broadway, one block north of Belmont Avenue, as early as May, owner Jason Chooi said Thursday.
While his Aurora location lets customers select their sushi from a rotating conveyor belt, the Lakeview eatery will be a little different, Chooi said. Instead, diners will order food that is then delivered to tables on a conveyer belt from the kitchen.
The method of delivery is common in Japan, but is relatively new for Chicago, Chooi said.
Beginner rolls range from $2.50-$3.50 and include well-known varieties like the California roll, sweet potato maki, spicy salmon and Philadelphia roll. Adventure rolls are pricier but more elaborate, ranging from a $3.50 Ocean 13 roll made with spicy crab, avocado, shrimp and red onion to the $13 Dragon on Fire roll made with shrimp tempura, salmon and spicy mayo and then baked."
